(Iowa) -- 33 Iowa National Guard Soldiers are back home after a year-long deployment to Kosovo.
Members of the 2-211th Aviation stationed in Waterloo deployed to Kosovo last year as part of a NATO-led peace keeping operation in the region. During the deployment, the unit's Black Hawk helicopters were sent to fight a forest fire that burned several thousand acres. Soldiers from the unit also trained foreign troops in air medical evacuation.
The soldiers will be recognized for their service at a ceremony in Waterloo on December 7th.
