An Arizona man, Manuel Tamayo-Torres, was arrested on Monday (November 25) after allegedly posting videos on Facebook threatening to kill President-elect Donald Trump and his family. In the videos, Tamayo-Torres reportedly brandished an AR-15-style rifle and made a series of threats against the President-elect, according to charging documents filed in the case.
In one video, Tamayo-Torres allegedly said, "You're gonna die, your son's gonna die. Your whole family is going to die. This is reality now for you. This is the only reality you have in your future: dying."
He also claimed in his videos that Trump and his family had kidnapped and sex-trafficked his children, though it is unclear if Tamayo-Torres has any children.
Tamayo-Torres was arrested near San Diego, California, where he was planning to move. The charges against him, however, were filed in Arizona.
He faces one count of making threats against a president or president's successor and several counts of making false statements during the purchase of a firearm. He allegedly lied on federal forms while trying to buy a pistol from a Phoenix gun store last year, swearing that he had not been previously convicted of a felony. However, he had been convicted of assault in 2003 in San Diego, making him legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
As of now, it is unclear if Tamayo-Torres has legal representation. The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the full extent of the threats made against President-elect Trump.
