Wendy Williams Is "Permanently Disabled" As Health Worsens

Sabrina Morrissey, Wendy Williams' guardian, has shared an update about the former broadcaster's health in a recent court document obtained by the New York Post. She stated that Williams is now "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated" as she continues to face dementia. This court filing is part of Morrissey's ongoing legal dispute with Lifetime regarding the documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?. She alleges that the filmmakers took advantage of Williams’ worsening mental condition. The filing names several defendants, including A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment Services, EOne Productions, Creature Films, and the documentary's executive producer, Mark Ford. It claims this group "cruelly exploited [Williams’] cognitive and physical decline" by making and releasing a documentary when she was very vulnerable and unable to give consent. Morrissey and her lawyers argue that the defendants “intentionally manipulated and provoked” Williams to capture strong emotional reactions and embarrassing moments. They seek to protect Williams’ privacy by asking the court to redact details about her health, family, and finances. Meanwhile, the defense attorneys argue that Williams provided her “consent, input, and participation” before her dementia diagnosis. Both parties are asking for a trial, which is likely to last two to four weeks.

Williams' health has been declining for several years, and in 2022, a court placed her under legal guardianship, overseeing her health and finances. At that time, her bank, Wells Fargo, claimed she was "incapacitated." In 2023, she was diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. The Lifetime documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?, was released in February of the following year. Stay tuned for more updates on Wendy Williams and her health from 103.5 The Beat!
