Every Christmas Eve, NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) gears up for its favorite mission — tracking Santa as he zooms around the globe! What started as a happy accident back in 1955 has turned into a full-blown holiday tradition, complete with a website, app, and even a hotline (877-HI-NORAD) where real people answer questions about Santa’s present location. The annual tracking kicks off at 4 a.m. MST (Mountain Standard Time) on December 24th and runs until midnight, thanks to a crew of enthusiastic volunteers who spend months getting everything ready. Last year, over 260-thousand people called in to keep tabs on Santa’s whereabouts.
