Iowa DNR Asking For Information On Recent Jackrabbit Sightings

(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking anyone who may have seen a jackrabbit recently to let them know.

The DNR says jackrabbits are classified as a species of conservation need in Iowa due to habitat loss.

The DNR says intensified row crop cultivation, and a decline in small grains and grassland areas in recent decades has led to the decline in the state's population.

White-tailed jackrabbits have longer ears and legs than cottontail rabbits, and can jump up to 15 feet.
