(Council Bluffs, IA) -- Human remains found in Council Bluffs this spring have been identified as 44-year-old Lilia Gonzalez Lainez of Omaha. Police say the remains were found in a field along Veteran's Memorial Highway May 8th. An autopsy determined the death was a homicide and that Gonzalez Lainez died of multiple injuries.

A DNA profile was developed and was entered into the FBI’s CODIS database which resulted in the body being positively identified. Police say Gonzalez Lainez was Honduran and had been living in the U-S since 2023. Prior to her death, she was last seen December 11, 2023 in South Omaha.

Council Bluffs police detectives are asking the public for assistance, in the hopes that someone may have knowledge of GONZALEZ LAINEZ’s whereabouts and/or circumstances leading to her death and discovery of the skeletal remains. Rem
