As one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood, Kate Winslet has sadly faced her fair share of body-shaming comments throughout her career, including one "appalling" statement made by a fashion critic on a red carpet during her Titanic fame.

The Lee star recently sat down with 60 Minutes where she was shown a clip from the 1998 Golden Globes red carpet where an on-air host criticized Winslet's fashion choices, including statements like she looked "a little melted and poured into her dress" and that the gown "needed [to be] two sizes larger and she'd be okay," per People. After seeing the clip, Winslet didn't mince words about how she felt about the rude remarks.

"It's absolutely appalling," she said. "What kind of a person must they be to do something like that to a young actress who's just trying to figure it out?"

Winslet said she didn't always let harsh comments slide and even confronted the press for their critiques of her appearance, admitting, "I let them have it. I said, 'I hope this haunts you.'"

The Academy Award winner held back tears as she shared what the confrontation meant to her, not just for herself but for everyone who has ever experienced similar "horrific" remarks.

"It was a great moment," she said. "It was a great moment because it wasn't just for me, it was for all those people who were subjected to that level of harassment. It was horrific. It was really bad."

Winslet recently reunited with her Titanic co-star and longtime friend Leonardo DiCaprio in a sweet photo 27 years after the premiere of their iconic film.
