Black People Magic: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's Broadway Debut

Black People Magic is often about what happens when we go for our dreams and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is a living example of that this week!

Last Saturday the 54-year-old legal superstar fulfilled a dream by making her Broadway debut in the musical comedy & Juliet, currently running at the Stephen Sondheim Theater in a one-night performance in a walk-on role.

It was a full-circle moment for her… she recently shared in her book, Lovely Onethat she wanted to become the first Supreme Court Justice to perform on Broadway. Producers of the show added two scenes written specifically for Justice Jackson into this special performance.

After the show, she told Gayle King at CBS Mornings that she had been performing since she was a child and felt like theater people were her people and added about this role that, “I think that it means that anything is possible… five years ago, I was a district court justice; nobody knew who I was. To have both of the pieces of my fondest dreams come true in this little bit of time has been extraordinary for me.” (Check out the highlight video of her debut at this link on Twitter!)

& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
