Ariana Grande is a pop icon herself, but she swore she was being "catfished" by her favorite pop star of all time — English musician and producer, Imogen Heap.

Speaking to W Magazine for their "Best Performances" issue, ahead of this year's Golden Globe Awards, Grande recalled the first time she received a message from Heap. She remembered, "Imogen Heap is my idol—my number one favorite musician, songwriter, producer of all time. The first time I got a message from her, I thought I was being catfished. She invited me over, and I thought I was going to be murdered because I didn’t believe it was real." Not to worry, as Ari was perfectly safe. Grande added, "She was so nice. She's brilliant in every way."

Grande sampled her idol on her 2018, Sweetener, on "Goodnight and Go."

Ariana is up for a Golden Globe this year for Best Performance By A Female Actor In Any Motion Picture for her role as Glinda in Wicked. She described to W Magazine of getting the role, "I have never in my life felt the way I did when I found out that I got the role of Glinda in the film. I thought, 'Everything’s going to be okay forever now.'"
