Ice-T may portray a detective on TV but the veteran rapper wasn't playing around when a real police officer pulled him over in New Jersey.
In Bodycam footage that surfaced on Friday, January 3, you can see a cop walk up to Ice-T's car after he stopped him in Hudson County. The "Law & Order: SVU" star explained he was headed to the Department of Motor Vehicles to fix his registration. The officer ran his information and told the rapper-actor that his registration expired in 2021. Ice-T tried to reason with the cop by offering to park and walk to the DMV.
"Yesterday, I went to the DMV, and they said their system was down," he explained calmly. "I got seven cars, I’m trying to get them all straight… You don’t gotta be that serious about this. I mean you can, but you don’t have to.”
The cop claimed he needed an appointment to go to the DMV and the actor replied he didn't need one because they knew him. Things got heated after the cop threatened to tow his vehicle.
“You’re not finna to tow my f**king vehicle," he told the cop. "Let me park my car right here...If I’m not under arrest, I’m getting out of the car. Give me my paperwork you f**king a**hole. Give me my f**king paperwork.”
Ice-T continued to hurl profanities at the officer until he pulled out his own camera to record the interaction. Eventually, another cop arrived on the scene and helped diffuse the situation. The Newark native didn't get his car towed, however, he reportedly left the scene with four tickets.
The Body Count artist's run-in with the cops happened in May 2024. He hasn't directly commented on the incident, but one troll on X tried to shame him for his actions. See his response to the woman below.
