FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno State begins its first road swing of 2025 heading east. The Bulldogs start with Utah State on Saturday night before traveling to Colorado State Tuesday.
Tipoff against the Aggies is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum and will stream on the Mountain West Network.
QUICK LOOK
Fresno State has dropped three straight in Logan with its last win coming on Jan. 9, 2019. Since that win the Bulldogs are 1-11 overall against the Aggies.
Standing at 0-3 in Mountain West play, the Bulldogs are winless through their three MW games for the third time (2021-22, 2023-24, 2024-25).
Fresno State is in the midst of a gauntlet to open the Mountain West season, facing six of the top seven teams to start conference play according to the preseason poll. The only team it does not include is preseason favorite Boise State.
With two more road games on the horizon, the 'Dogs will play 10 of their first 16 games away from the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs played seven of its 11 nonconference games away from home. That matched San Jose State for the most nonconference games away from its home court.
Fresno State has trailed at the half in 13 of 14 games, and is being outscored by average of 7.6 points per game in the first half.
Struggling from beyond the arc in the first third of the season, the Bulldogs have begun to heat up, making 48 3-pointers in their last five games (9.6 per game). They had made just 52 in their first nine games (5.8).
Zaon Collins leads the team in points (13.4), assists (4.0) and steals (2.2) per game, and is third in rebounding (4.1). He has been a pest at the other end where he is second in the Mountain West in steals.
Elijah Price is leading the MW in offensive rebounds, grabbing 3.21 per game, and is third in the conference overall with 8.4 per game.
Vance Walberg's high-tempo style has the Bulldogs third in the nation in adjusted tempo, averaging 74.9 possessions per 40 minutes.
BY THE NUMBERS
47.8 - In the last three games, Fresno State is shooting 47.8% from 3 (33-of-69).
11.0 - Through its first nine games, Fresno State was making 5.8 3-pointers per game. In the last three games, that number has nearly doubled to 11.0.
33 - Scoring 31 points through his first 12 games as a Bulldog, Jasir Tremble has caught fire in the last two, scoring 33 points while shooting 80% from 3 (8-of-10) off the bench.
LET THE THREES FALL
Struggling to score from 3 for the majority of the season, Fresno State's shots have begun to fall from outside as of late. Since knocking down 12 3-pointers at BYU on Dec. 11, the Bulldogs have made 48 3's in their last five games (9.6 per game). Prior to that, they made 52 in their first nine games (5.8).
Fresno State had not made double-digit 3-pointers in a game until Dec. 11 and has four in the five games since.
In the last three games, the 'Dogs are shooting 47.8% from 3 with 33 made 3's.
GETTING HANDSY
Only two players in the Mountain West have produced six steals in a game this season, and both of those players reside in Fresno. Zaon Collins was the first, collecting six at UCSB on Nov. 13. Elijah Price recorded his six-steal game on Dec. 31 versus New Mexico.
A player has recorded six steals or more in a game 84 times this year.
DC TO CA
With 31 points through his first 12 games as a Bulldog, Jasir Tremble has second 33 in his last two games. First, he exploded at UNLV on Dec. 28, leading the 'Dogs with 19 points. The junior connected on 5-of-7 from deep in 22 minutes. The Washington D.C. product followed up with 14 points against New Mexico, going 3-of-3 from 3.
Tremble's previous high was eight against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 20).
Tremble's five 3-pointers were the most made 3-pointers by a Bulldog in a game since Xavier DuSell made seven at Air Force on Feb. 10, 2024.
GROWING UP BEFORE OUR EYES
Reclassifying to the 2024 class, Brian Amuneke expected to redshirt the 2024-25 season, but due to the Bulldogs injuries early this season, the coaching staff and Amuneke decided to remove the redshirt. The 14th-youngest player on a Division I roster this season, the Los Angeles native made his debut for the 'Dogs on Nov. 20, scoring five points in 14 minutes off the bench, going 2-of-3 from the field.
Amuneke made his first start on Nov. 23, scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds.
With 28 points in his previous 10 games, including a then-season high eight points against San Diego State, Amuneke was a spark for the 'Dogs against New Mexico, pouring in 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Amuneke prepped under current Bulldogs' assistant coach Ray Barefield at Rancho Christian School where he was the Ivy League Player of the Year during his senior season.
