Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were "holding space" for their beloved film Wicked at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday (January 5), recreating their viral meme at start of the show.

The "We Can't Be Friends" singer and Tony Award winner were sat next to each other at their table throughout the show, showing support for each other and their film as they were each nominated for their roles in the movie musical. However, one moment that stood out was when host Nikki Glaser referenced their hilariously puzzling meme during her opening monologue.

As Glaser quipped, "Ariana, hold my finger," the camera panned to their table where Grande was immediately ready to show her support, holding out her hand with a comforting look on her face. Because Glaser was so far away on stage cracking jokes and getting the show started, Erivo stepped in to lend a helping hand, offering her own pointer finger for Grande to grasp and recreating the fun viral moment.

The "holding space" meme came about from a joint interview with Erivo for Out Magazine in November 2024 in which the interviewer spoke about how people were "holding space" for the lyrics of "Defying Gravity" and "feeling power in that." As Erivo gave her response, Grande supported her friend by holding her finger.

Grande perviously shared what she was really thinking during the interview, wondering whether she was "okay" because she "didn't understand what was happening" in a conversation that ended up making waves online.
