WESTWOOD, Mass. WBZ NewsRadio) — Gas prices in Massachusetts are down two cents from last week’s average, according to AAA Northeast.
Last week, gas was $3.02 per gallon on average, and Monday’s average is holding at $3.00. The national average is $3.06 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, Monday’s gas price was three cents lower than a month ago and 18 cents lower than Jan. 6, 2024.
AAA warned consumers that the cold weather and increased demand could boost prices in the future.

“If it weren’t for cratering demand and swelling inventories, gasoline prices could be on the upswing thanks to the impacts of severe cold,” said Mark Schieldrop, Senior Spokesperson for AAA Northeast.
“Oil and gas markets are watching for potential disruptions to production and supplies in southern areas of the United States unaccustomed to prolonged hard freezes,” Schieldrop added.
Oklahoma and Mississippi have the lowest gas prices in the nation averaging $2.55 and $2.60 per gallon. Hawaii and California have the highest prices in the nation averaging $4.54 and $4.38 per gallon.
