Louisiana officials strongly oppose President Joe Biden's new ban on offshore oil drilling.
The executive order stops all future drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and other areas. Biden claims he did it to protect the environment and the climate.
Officials say the ban will harm Louisiana's oil and gas economy and undermine the nation's energy independence.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill says she plans to sue. Republican Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy are also critical of Biden's decision.
