School Closures in the DMV Area Continue through Wednesday, 1/8

School Closed for Snow Day School Buses

After the snowfall on Monday and Tuesday, several school districts have announced closures for Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, predicting heavy snowfall and dangerously cold temperatures. Here’s a detailed look at the school closures across the region:

Montgomery County: Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will be closed. This closure affects all schools and offices, and all activities, field trips, and programs in schools and on school grounds, including athletic practices and events, are canceled. Emergency personnel are expected to report on time.

Fairfax County: Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will also be closed. This includes the closure of all school buildings and offices, and the cancellation of all activities on school grounds, including extracurricular activities, athletic practices, and adult education classes. School Age Child Care (SACC) centers will be closed as well.

Fauquier County: Fauquier County Public Schools will remain closed. All school activities and events are canceled, and administrative offices will also be closed.

Culpeper County: Culpeper County Public Schools will be closed. The school district has designated this day as a teacher workday, with students expected to return on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Falls Church: Falls Church City Public Schools will be closed. All schools, daycare facilities, and administrative offices will be closed, and all afternoon and evening activities are canceled.

D.C.: D.C. Public Schools will be closed. The closure includes all schools and administrative offices, and all activities on school grounds are canceled.

Prince George’s County: Prince George’s County Public Schools will be closed. All schools and offices are closed, and all activities, programs, and sports on school grounds are canceled. Emergency personnel should report on time.
