The Day We Placed Another Brick In The Wall

Pink Floyd has many iconic hit songs, but few of them resonates throughout the years like "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)"!

From their groundbreaking 1979 album "The Wall", the was written by bassist Roger Waters, and would go on to become a global anthem. by blending social commentary in protest against the oppressive nature of authoritarian schooling and corporal punishment. Waters, drew from his own experience with rigid and abusive educational systems, to craft a song that still resonates with generations of listeners. The anthem that questions conformity echoing the iconic: "We don’t need no education, we don’t need no thought control," made the track even more striking with the addition of a children's choir, which added depth and authenticity to the song's message.

Producer Bob Ezrin, made the song stand out, by incorporating elements of disco, which made the track infectious, but still true to Pink Floyd's spirit. As guitarist David Gilmour recalled, he was initially unsure about the disco influence, but the final product felt unmistakably "Pink Floyd." The song’s success was undeniable. It quickly skyrocketed to the top of charts around the world, and sold more than four million copies globally, topping singles charts in 14 countries, and was ranked #384 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
