President-elect Donald Trump declared that his administration would rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America."
On Tuesday (January 7), Trump issued his latest attack against Mexico, saying he would rename one of North America's largest and most important bodies of water, per ABC News.
"We're going to change because we do most of the work there and it's ours," Trump said. "It's appropriate, and Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country."
Trump also blamed Mexico for the influx of drugs into the U.S. and pledged to make Mexico and Canada pay through "substantial tariffs."
"We want to get along with everybody. But you know ... it takes two to tango," he said.
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene followed up Trump's comments, announcing on X that her staff had begun drafting legislation for the name change.
"This is important to begin funding the changing of maps for all agencies within the federal government, like the FAA and the military," Greene tweeted.
