Fresno State falls at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Fresno State's difficulties in Moby Arena continued Tuesday night as the Bulldogs dropped their seventh straight to Colorado State in Fort Collins, 91-64.

The Rams shot 50.0% from the field and put five players in double figures, led by Jaylen Crocker-Johnson's 20 points. CSU totaled 28 assists on 29 made field goals. For the Bulldogs, Alex Crawford posted his second consecutive 20-point performance with 21 on 7-of-12 shooting.

How It Happened

Fresno State led in the early minutes of the game until the Rams connected on six of their next seven shots in an 18-2 run to go up 18-6 just over five minutes in. Colorado State's lead was aided by opening the contest 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs ended a 10-minute field goal drought on a drive inside from Alex Crawford. Fresno State trailed 24-10 with 7:49 on the clock following its first made field after 13 straight missed attempts.

The Rams countered with a seven-point possession. Following the Rams' fifth 3-pointer of the night, a flagrant foul call on Mor Seck turned into four straight free throws for CSU to extend its lead over 20.

The Bulldogs were just 4-of-22 from the field until making their final three shots of the half. Fresno State trailed 49-26 at the break after getting outshot 50%-28%. Ten of the Bulldogs' 26 points came at the free-throw line where they were just 10-of-20.

A pair of 3-pointers from Zaon Collins and Jasir Tremble pulled the deficit to 19 with 15:23 on the clock but the Rams answered through a 14-2 stretch that saw three straight 3-pointers give them a 67-36 advantage with 11:50 remaining.

Notes

Fresno State dropped its 12th straight game to Colorado State.

The loss was the fifth of 20 or more points at Colorado State since joining the Mountain West.

The 27 points were the largest margin of defeat all-time against the Rams.

The 27-point defeat was tied for the Bulldogs' fourth-worst margin of defeat in a Mountain West game.

Fresno State's 26 first-half points were the third fewest in a game this season.

The 23-point halftime deficit was the Bulldogs' largest of the season, surpassing the 18 at UNLV.

Fresno State shot 57.6% from the free-throw line (19-of-33), its third-lowest percentage of the season.

Alex Crawford posted his second consecutive 20-point game, scoring 21 points. It was his seventh game of the season in double figures.

Zaon Collins reached double digits for the 11th time this year with 11 points.

Fresno State returns home to host Nevada on Saturday at the Save Mart Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT. The game will be the second of a doubleheader with the women's team which will face Boise State at 1 p.m.
