A South Florida insurance agent says the massive dental insurance fraud scheme could result in even patients not involved paying more down the road.
Arden Insurance's Robert Norberg says the arrest of Evelyn Cruz, who is accused of defrauding patients and insurance companies out of more than $11 million, is a tragedy to everyone.
"If somebody's taking huge amounts of money out of these insurance companies, it's going to be reflected to all consumers in their rates."
Authorities tell CBS 12 that she fraudulently opened four dental offices in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties by using the names of actual dentists, many of whom were not aware.
Cruz is being held on bond.
