An alleged drug dealer in Poughkeepsie, New York, is facing charges after being arrested on Sunday (January 5). The Dutchess County Drug Task Force accuses 32-year-old Michael Birney of using a home on Robinson Lane in the Town of East Fishkill to manufacture, store, and sell drugs. He was apprehended near Hooker Avenue and now faces drug and weapons charges.

According to News 12, Birney's arrest is part of an ongoing investigation by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force. The task force alleges that Birney was involved in significant drug activities in the area.

Birney has a history of legal issues. In a previous incident, he was arrested in April 2022 for criminal possession of a weapon after a traffic stop in the Town of Lloyd. During that stop, police found a handgun in the vehicle he was in, leading to charges against him and another individual, Khiry Hines-Peppers. At the time, Birney was also wanted on an arrest warrant for assault and criminal mischief from the Village of Wappingers Falls Police, as reported by Mid Hudson News.

The current charges against Birney could lead to additional legal consequences. The Dutchess County Drug Task Force continues to investigate the case, and more charges may be filed later this week.
