East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards is restating the issues he plans to prioritize.
Wrapping up his first week in office, Edwards spoke on Wednesday at the Baton Rouge Rotary Club.
He says increased policing alone won't take care of crime, but more police officers are a good idea.
Edwards says blight is a problem, and his administration will start by fixing or demolishing distressed properties owned by the parish.
As a former football coach involved with kids, he said he wants to build a better Baton Rouge for younger generations.
