Brightline-Delray Fire Truck Collision

Just two days after the Delray Beach vice mayor chastised the city manager for not disclosing the driving records of firefighters, a review of those records shows that the driver of the fire truck that was involved in a collision with a Brightline train once had his driver's license suspended.

David Wyatt had his license suspended in October of 2023 after failing to complete driving school. Wyatt had been ordered to attend the school after driving onto a median along Atlantic Avenue and hitting a tree in June of that year.

12 people on the train and three firefighters were injured when video shows the Delray fire truck crossing the tracks despite the crossing arms being down.
