A Kent County Judge is sentencing a woman to jail time after a child brought a gun to a Grand Rapids elementary school last year.
Kent County Circuit Court Judge Scott Noto says there could have been tragic consequences as a result of the incident.
Noto sentenced Chelsea Berkley to a year in jail.
The son of Berkley's then-fiancée brought the gun to Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School in May 2023.
Berkley admitted the gun was purchased off the street.
