(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Developers of a new casino are asking the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission to deny a petition to block the state from issuing a casino license for Linn County.
Both Riverside Casino and and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation say their gaming facilities will lose significant revenue to a casino in Cedar Rapids because the Iowa casino market is already saturated.
They also claim that a 2021 ballot measure on the issue was misworded.
The developers of a CR casino say the opposition doesn't have any grounds to block the will of Linn County voters.
A hearing on the Riverside petition is schedule for January 23rd.
