As wildfires rage across Los Angeles, stories of neighbors helping one another amid the devastation have emerged. On Tuesday, 48-year-old Aaron Samson and his 83-year-old father-in-law were forced to evacuate their home in Pacific Palisades. Without a car, they flagged down a neighbor who offered them a ride. But when flames and smoke surrounded them, they abandoned the car, Samson grabbed his father-in-law’s walker, and they set out on foot through the chaos.
With people panicking all around them, Samson’s father-in-law urged him to save himself if the flames got too close, but he reassured him, saying, "We got it, Dad." After walking for 15 minutes, a second good Samaritan stopped and drove them to safety in Santa Monica.
By the next day, Samson wasn’t sure if their home had survived the fires, but he and his father-in-law were safe. He expressed deep gratitude to the two strangers who helped them escape, saying, “They saved us. They really stepped up.”
