Bailey's Jam-Packed First Speech Weekend

Friday we had our company holiday party at Forgotten Star Brewery (where my birthday party was!) I was underdressed and everyone looked so made-up and put-together. I'm doing Dry January, so I didn't have any alcohol! But I ate so so much.

Saturday was our first Speech tournament of the season! It's my favorite time of the year. I watched two rounds of Original Oratory, one Informative round, and one Creative Expression round. I had 15 kids at the tournament and 11 finalists! I'm so proud that these youths do public speaking and share their voices.

Saturday night I threw on my fake hair and went to see burlesque at the Dabbler Depot with my friend Hannah. Every time we go, we always go "we should do this, we should do that" and Hannah is really good at making those things happen. I am not. I should perform again soon.

Sunday morning I went to a training to become a judge for One Act Play, a competitive high school theatre program. I am SO excited to be a judge - I'll be judging a subsection in a couple weeks and I cannot wait.

Sunday afternoon I saw The Heart Sellers at the Guthrie. I really enjoyed it! It was about two Asian immigrants coming together to bond over their shared homesickness and the promise of a new country. I thought it was quite poignant.

Sunday is DND night! We play at Insight Brewing sometimes - I'm still doing Dry January, so I enjoyed hop water and kombucha. In this session, all of our characters had to dress up in disguise and go to a party to get intel. My centaur gunslinger was disguised as a janitor.
