NFL Hall of Famer turned Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders has revealed the advice he gave to his star player, Travis Hunter, amid criticism he received about his relationship with his fiancé, Leanna Lenee.

As his star power continued to rise on and off the field, Hunter, who was awarded the Heisman Trophy last month, faced scrutiny over his relationship with Lenee as videos circulated online of their interactions. The couple temporarily deactivated their social media accounts in the wake of the criticism.

On Friday's (January 10) episode of The Tamron Hall Show, Sanders revealed that he gave Hunter a clear message on how to handle the backlash.

"Don't stop," Sanders said he told Hunter.

Coach Prime added that he advised Hunter to not deactivate his social media accounts due to the financial impact the move could have on the star college football player. "You have endorsements, you have people that are sponsoring you to talk about their product. We can't deactivate, we've gotta activate right now."

Amid the criticism, a video circulated of Sanders showing support for Hunter at a practice before the Colorado Buffaloes' bowl game against BYU.

"I want you to know this in front of everybody," Sanders said in front of the team. "You know we love you, We got you. We appreciate you. You are him."

Hunter recently reactivated his social media accounts. Earlier this week, Hunter appeared with Lenee on the red carpet for Sports Illustrated's annual awards, where was crowned the 2024 Breakout Star of the Year.
