Special Counsel David Weiss sharply criticized President Biden’s December 2024 pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, in a report released Monday, calling the president’s remarks on the investigation "misleading" and "unfair." The report noted that the pardon, which followed Hunter Biden’s conviction for felony firearm offenses and charges of unpaid federal taxes, effectively ended discussions of additional charges. Weiss also condemned the president’s characterization of the prosecution as "selective" and warned such comments could erode public trust in the justice system.
Weiss also highlighted the damaging impact of political attacks on public confidence in the criminal justice system. Weiss stated that President Biden's comments undermined the credibility of prosecutors and public servants involved in the case.
