A Prince Edward Island, Canada resident has captured the first-ever video of a meteorite crashing to Earth. The incident occurred on July 25, 2024, when Joe Velaidum and his wife Laura were out walking their dogs. Velaidum’s doorbell camera captured the meteorite darting to the ground and exploding near his front door. The footage shows the impact with tremendous force, and Velaidum sent samples of the fragments to the University of Alberta’s Meteorite Collection for verification.
