More violent crime here in Houston as a deputy was shot and killed this morning at a SW Houston shopping center.
Brazoria County Sheriff's Deputy, Jesus Jesse Vargas was working with the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, when he was shot at 9333 Stella Link Road at around 11:30 a.m. this morning while serving a warrant
The deputy and his unit were serving a warrant on a violent offender in the parking lot. The suspect of the warrant opened fire from his car, and the deputy was shot and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The male suspect is 56-year old Robert Lee Davis, also known as Sean Christopher Davis. He is still on the run on foot, with multiple law enforcement agencies now involved in the frantic manhunt.
Houston ISD’s Horn Elementary was placed on lockdown, with officials sending this to parents:
“Our campus has been temporarily placed in secure status as a precautionary measure while police investigate suspicious activity in the area. There is no direct threat to your students. All students remain safe, our building is secure, and our instructional day is continuing as normal.”
This is a developing story.
