FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's tennis teams open the spring season at home hosting Fresno Pacific on Thursday night at 5 p.m. PT and University of the Pacific on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. PT. Both matches will be held at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Complex and admission to the matches are free.

THE DY FILE
Head Coach Denise Dy returns for her fifth season at the helm.
Under her belt, Dy has coached three MW Player of the Year's Yinglak [Pang] Jittakoat (2022 & 2023) and Dalia Ahmed (2021).
In her first four seasons in the Central Valley, Fresno State sported a 55-36 overall record while leading the program back into the national and regional rankings, which included 2023 NCAA Doubles Championships and ITA Kickoff Weekend appearances and the Bulldogs captured the 2022 Mountain West regular season championship with a perfect 10-0 record in conference play. Last season, Dy led the 'Dogs to an undefeated season at home during Mountain West play, 4-0 and a 10-13 overall record.
DYNAMIC DUO
Matilde Magrini and Yinglak Jittakoat are back for one final season. The pair have played over 31 doubles matches together since 2022, holding a 20-11 record. In spring of 2023, the doubles pair saw an NCAA opening round appearance against Illinois.
Last season the pair were ranked No. 23 in the ITA doubles, the highest in program history. It was a short season for the pair as Jittakoat dealt with injuries in the spring season. Now they come into their final season together looking to finish on a high note.
NEWBIES ON THE COURT
Bulldogs welcome four new players to the 2024-24 team, Paulina Montiel, Sofia Pizzoni, Klara Vukicevic and Andjela Lopicic.
Freshman Paulina Montiel joins the crew after singing earlier this fall and will participate this spring. The Mexican native holds a career-high ITF Junior ranking No. 536 with a 12-7 singles and 13-5 doubles record. In 2024, Montiel won the Junior ITF singles title at the J30 Mexico City Tournament. Montiel has also won two ITF doubles titles each year since 2022, most recently in 2024 at J60 Tlaxcala and J30 Mexico City.
Pizzoni transferred from the University of Minnesota with two years of eligibility remaining after spending her first two seasons with the Gophers. The Italian native held a 10-5 singles record with four conference appearances this season at the No. 6 slot. As a doubles partner, primarily playing No. 3 doubles, Pizzoni held a 8-8 record with six conference matches under her belt, leading the team in individual doubles wins on the season. Pizzoni was the first transfer to sign with the Bulldogs for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Vukicevic transferred from the College of Charleston with two years of eligibility remaining, after spending her first two seasons representing the Cougars. The Croatian native appeared in two matches this past season, gathering a 2-0 record at singles play posting a 6-5 record at doubles, primarily at No. 3 for doubles. In her debut season, Vukicevic appeared in one singles match and held a 9-8 doubles record.
Lopicic transferred from Marshall University, also with two years of eligibility remaining. The Serbian native held a 5-3 singles record last season playing in the No. 6 position and 2-0 doubles record at No. 3. In Lopicic's freshman season, she compiled a 13-14 singles record and a 5-7 record in doubles with 11 of her 13 singles victories coming in straight sets.
