Winter Storm Enzo is now gonzo, so how did the Texas power grid hold up? And what about CenterPoint? Have they learned from their mistakes?
"We weathered the storm pretty well" said David Holt, president of Consumer Energy Alliance, "No capacity issues, and no real reliability issues."
ERCOT said the grid was going to have enough reserves and it did. And CenterPoint was able to provide power to 99% of customers, although there were thousands without power on Tuesday night.
"The 2nd highest demand day ever reported for the state of Texas" Holt told KTRH, "So, overall very good news from a energy demand and capacity. We all need reliable energy, and I think the lessons learned and what ERCOT has done to add more natural gas to our energy mix, to make sure that we have enough capacity."
We'll have to wait and see how things go when we have the next wind event and hurricane.
