Minority Leader of the New York City Council Joe Borelli announced his upcoming resignation from the council over the weekend. Borelli spent nearly 10 years serving the council and his constituents and will now move on to work as a political consultant at Chartwell Strategy Group. Joe Borelli spoke with Mendte in the Morning about his time on the council and his experience as a Republican in a Democrat city.
“It’s easy to fight and make noise and throw grenades and throw bombs,” Borelli told host Larry Mendte. “The hard part is actually cooperating with the people that you disagree with and finding commonality.”
Borelli believes that the council does good work even with a wide range of representatives: “Are there some crazy crazy people in the city council? There sure are, but there’s a lot of decent people who just want to do the work of public service and improve their communities just a little bit.”
