Man Pops Question On The Spot After Finding Engagement Ring In Ashes

Earlier this month, Brian McShea and Stephanie Raynor of Altadena, California, were compelled to evacuate their home due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Their house, which they had only moved into a year ago, was destroyed, taking all their belongings with it. Like many others, the couple returned to sift through the ashes of their home in search of anything salvageable.

While digging through the rubble, McShea focused on the spot where his desk once stood, secretly hoping to find the engagement ring he had recently purchased and hidden in a desk drawer.

After uncovering several small items that turned out to be washers or other debris, McShea finally found the diamond among the ashes.

He immediately dropped to one knee and proposed on the spot.

In tears, Raynor said yes. Although they haven’t set a wedding date yet, the couple is committed to remaining in Altadena.

Despite the challenges, the discovery and proposal brought a bright moment to what has otherwise been a difficult time.
