President Donald Trump continues to deliver on his campaign promises. In his latest executive order, Trump says the move will restrict "chemical and surgical" sex-change procedures for minors.
In a press release from the White House, Trump said: "Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions," the order states. "This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end."
The executive order defines chemical and surgical mutilation to include the use of puberty blockers, the use of hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, and surgical procedures that transform an individual’s physical appearance.
The White House said what they define as “chemical and surgical mutilation” is referred to by others as “gender-affirming care.”
