Tre Carroll will forever live in Crosstown Shootout lore after scoring a career high 30 point with seven rebounds for the Musketeers (7-3). The game featured five ties and nine lead changes. Tied at halftime, the Muskies ran off to a 13 point lead with 12:21 left. UC answered to take a one point lead with 2:39 left. But the Musketeers responded with a 12-6 run to close the game. Wes Miller never found a defensive answer for Carroll, who hit 14 of 23 shots (61%), while his teammates combined to hit 16 of 41 (39%). XU only committed four turnovers, the fewest turnovers in a game since Jan. 9, 2019. Five Bearcats reached double figures, paced by Day Day Thomas who scored 16 points. UC won the battle on the glass, 51-37, and held an 18-4 advantage in second-chance points. But UC shot just 37.7% from the field and 50% at the line (11-22). The teams combined for just 42% from the field, 27.8% from beyond the arc, and 53% at the line. The Bearcats (6-3) have now dropped 11 consecutive Shootout games at Cintas Center dating back to 2001. XU has captured 21 of the last 30 matchups.

What. Was. That? The Cats missed their first 10 shots and the Zags bolted to a 21-5 lead. UK’s first field goal came at the 11:04 mark of the first half, and they trailed by 23 at the break. Boos from Big Blue Nation took over Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Gonzaga lead grew to 37 points in the second half. Kentucky shot 26% from the field and 21% from three. Gonzaga scorched the nets at a 57% clip. Graham Ike had 17 points at halftime, and at one point had scored 24 points to UK’s 26 as a team. Otega Oweh scored 16 points to lead UK. The Cats have dropped six consecutive Top 25 matchups.
