Martin County, FL - Authorities say three men have been arrested in connection with a series of sneaker store burglaries at shopping malls across Florida and Georgia.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Office of Statewide Prosecution, the suspects are identified as Herbert Davis III, Michael McCray, and Tyrone Howard.
They are facing multiple charges after an investigation coordinated with the Florida Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators allege the group carried out several rooftop break-ins, including an October 21 burglary at the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach, a November 7 incident at a mall in Georgia, and a November 17 burglary at the Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach.
In the Jensen Beach case, authorities say the suspects allegedly cut through a concrete roof, entered a Champs Sports store from above, and took hundreds of pairs of Nike sneakers.
Officials estimate the stolen merchandise from the crime series to exceed seventy thousand dollars.
Following one of the burglaries, two members of the group allegedly attempted another break-in at a separate Daytona Beach location but were stopped by police before gaining entry.
The suspects are charged with burglary, grand theft, and possession of burglary tools.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office states the men are also being investigated in connection with up to a dozen similar burglaries involving rooftop access.
Authorities believe the group may be tied to an organized retail theft operation valued at approximately one million dollars.
If convicted, each suspect could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
