Gov. DeSantis Proposes "A.I. Bill of Rights"
(Tallahassee, FL) --Governor DeSantis is considering an "A.I. Bill of Rights" to regulate artificial intelligence. The proposal targets sexualized A.I. chatbots, restricts the construction of A.I. data centers, and includes measures to protect consumer data and parental rights. The legislation would fortify anti-deepfake protections, allow parents access to their children's A.I. conversations, and give local governments authority to refuse or restrict data centers statewide. DeSantis noted the danger of unmonitored A.I. after a 14-year-old boy's suicide was linked to a sexualized chatbot.
Rollins College Student Arrested For Gun Possession On Campus
(Winter Park, FL)-- A student is accused of having a gun on campus in Orange County. Winter Park Police arrested Rollins College student Constantine Demetriades yesterday. The 21-year-old senior allegedly had an AR-15 rifle, ammo, knives and a tactical vest in his dorm. He's charged with possession of a firearm on school property, and he's also banned from campus.
Trucking School Official Welcomes More Federal Oversight Of Industry
(Tampa, FL) -- A man who runs a Tampa trucking school welcomes a recent announcement by the White House. The Trump administration said this week it's revoking the certification of thousands of trucking schools for lax training standards and record keeping. Roadmaster Drivers School President Brad Ball says some schools are trying to fit a 30-day course into just a few days, and that's impossible. He tells 10 Tampa Bay it's also very dangerous, and it has been a problem for years.
Details Released In Viral Keys Incident
(Key West, FL)-- Some new information is out about an immigration incident in the Keys that went viral. The video taken Wednesday morning shows federal agents pulling a woman from a car she was driving in Key Largo on US One. As the woman is being handcuffed, she can be heard screaming that she's a US citizen. According to details released yesterday by Customs and Border Protection, the car she was driving belonged to her illegal immigrant boyfriend. A CPB spokesman says the woman also refused to roll down her window after she was stopped, and she refused to show her driver's license.The spokesman says she was detained for 10 minutes, and once agents confirmed she was a US citizen she was let go.
