AUSTIN, Texas - The Fresno State swimmers completed the second day of the U.S. Open Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center on Friday night.
How it happened
Bulldogs were once again set up for success with all three breaststroker's qualifying into the finals. Jenna Pulkkinen saw another consolation B final in the 100 breast while Mackenzie Miller Lung and Aliz Kalmar returned to the championship final.
Pulkkinen made good work placing fifth in the consolation heat to take 13th place overall with a time of 1:10.65. Pulkkinen out touched Canadian Olmpyian, Summer McIntosh by two seconds.
In the championship final, Miller Lung was the third fastest swimmer off the block with a .67 reaction time. By the first turn Kalmar had placed herself third in the field with a 31.61 50-meter split. Kalmar gave it her all, coming into the touch pad just .seventy-six hundredths of a second behind Lepage and McSharry who tied for second place. Miller Lung touched in seventh with a time of 1:08.70.
In the Bulldogs opening day, Miller Lung claimed the podium with a third-place finish in the 50-meter breaststroke and Kalmar came close rounding out the top five in fifth.
