BIA CEO Looks at Government Fees on New Housing

When it comes to housing, one of the biggest challenges to affordability is high government fees. The BIA has commissioned a study, Sacramento Region Multi-Jurisdictional Development Impact Fee Comparison, prepared by Economic & Planning Systems, Inc., a respected consulting firm that serves both local governments and the building industry. The study found that the average total fee imposed by all levels of government on each new home in the region now totals $109,000. You can read the report here, and a Q&A about the fee issue here.
