COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior Liz Tarczy is the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Tarczy won the high jump at the Silver State Invite with a personal best indoor mark of 1.82m/5-11.5 at the indoor season opener last weekend. The San Diego native successfully hit the mark on her third attempt at the height.
The mark ranks No. 1 in the nation after the opening weekend of the season.
Her jump was the highest attempt by any athlete in the event with the second place mark being 1.72m/5-7.75.
The reigning Mountain West indoor and outdoor champion eyes the indoor program record as she inches closer to the top mark that hasn't been touched since 1988.
Tarczy earned Fresno State's only event win at the event last weekend.
Tuesday's announcement is her first career weekly honor from the conference office.
