It seems there’s a new apple trying to steal Honeycrisp’s spotlight, called Ludacrisp, thanks to a millennial orchard owner influenced by early-2000s rap.
Developed over many years as part of a breeding project, this Juicy-Fruit-flavored apple has gone viral as shoppers connect it to the rapper.
The name has caused a funny split among growers, but its boldness helped it catch on, and now Ludacrisp appears in markets and online everywhere.
Growers hope it becomes so popular that future generations think the rapper is named after the apple.
