A new film titled "Red Ink" is set to begin production in Syracuse next month, and casting calls have been issued for seven specific roles. Local actors are encouraged to audition for this 1940s-era movie, which will film scenes in Central New York throughout January 2026. The casting director, Annie Delano of AND Casting, is seeking Syracuse locals only, as no travel or lodging will be provided.

According to syracuse.com, actors interested in auditioning must apply with their name, headshot, contact information, and the role they wish to audition for. Selected applicants will receive audition instructions by Thursday, with final audition tapes due by Sunday night. All roles will be cast before Christmas.

The roles include Midge Baker, a quirky switchboard operator; a distinguished radio announcer; a cartoonist; a fast-talking copywriter named Charles; a junior copywriter; a paperboy; and a desk jockey. Each role requires specific skills, such as comedic timing, vocal control, or physical presence.

As reported by 4Filming.com, the film's plot, director, and cast details are still under wraps, but the project promises to bring rich period detail to the Syracuse film scene. Both union and non-union actors may audition, with all jobs paid at SAG scale.
