Jaguars vs Jets Recap

The Jacksonville Jaguars walked into Week 15 needing a statement win, and they delivered one of their most explosive performances of the 2025 season. Behind a dominant afternoon from Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars dismantled the New York Jets 48–20 at EverBank Stadium, improving to 10–4 and strengthening their grip on the AFC playoff race. What unfolded wasn’t just a win — it was a reminder of what this Jaguars offense can be when everything is clicking.

Trevor Lawrence played like a quarterback who understands that December football is where legacies are built. He finished with:

  • 330 passing yards
  • 5 passing touchdowns
  • 1 rushing touchdown
  • 438 total yards of team offense

It was as complete and commanding a performance as we’ve seen since Lawrence entered the league. He controlled the tempo, manipulated coverages, and shredded a Jets defense that never found an answer. When he scores six total touchdowns, Jacksonville doesn’t just win — they overwhelm.

This was the type of game that shifts MVP conversations and puts the rest of the AFC on notice.

If Lawrence was the conductor, Travis Etienne Jr. was the orchestra’s lead soloist.

The Jaguars' star running back exploded for three receiving touchdowns, repeatedly finding soft spots in the Jets’ coverage and turning simple routes into back-breaking plays. His chemistry with Lawrence is undeniable, and offensive coordinator Press Taylor made him a centerpiece of the game plan.

Whether out of the backfield or split wide, Etienne was a matchup nightmare the Jets couldn’t contain.

On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars' defense welcomed rookie quarterback Brady Cook to the NFL with a baptism by fire:

  • 3 interceptions forced
  • Constant pressure
  • Disruption on early downs that put New York behind the chains

Cook did manage to throw his first career touchdown pass — a nice moment for the Jets rookie — but Jacksonville’s defense ultimately controlled the day. As the Jaguars' offense kept adding points, the defense played freer, faster, and more aggressively.

The complementary football was impressive.

New York entered the matchup in developmental mode, and this game made that clear. With injuries, inconsistency, and a rookie quarterback making his first start, the Jets were outmatched from the opening possession.

By the time the fourth quarter arrived, Jacksonville was rotating personnel and controlling clock while the Jets were still searching for answers.

The Jaguars needed to deliver a complete performance as the season heats up — and they did exactly that.

  • Lawrence played like a superstar.
  • Etienne was electric.
  • The defense forced turnovers and set the tone.
  • The coaching staff executed a clean, dominant game plan.

With playoff seeding on the line and momentum building, Jacksonville looks like a team rounding into form at the perfect time.

If this is the version of the Jaguars the AFC gets in late December and January, the road to the postseason just got a lot more interesting.
