Rock Island Raises Water, Garbage And Sewer Rates

(Rock Island, IL) -- Water and garbage rates will rise in Rock Island over the next four years.

City Council is approving a 5.5% jump in water rates, a 12% increase for garbage and recycling, and a 30-50 cent rise in stormwater rates.

Public Works says the increases are needed to maintain service levels, make improvements and remain in regulatory compliance.

The rate increases will start showing up on bills in January.
