Jay Weber Show transcript 12-19-25
audio version of the segment here > Stories the accomplice media refused to cover in 2025
I have a whole fist-full of stories that have gone either completely unreported…or largely un-reported…recently.
I have an entire topic on how the east coast media and major legacy media newsrooms around the country are completely ignoring the emails and evidence that now confirm federal agents were ordered to raid trump’s home and search Mar-a-Lago in the summer of 2022….even though career agents repeatedly told their superiors there was no probable cause.
We have-proof-that Biden and garland ordered an unconstitutional raid on a former President’s home for the first time in US history- even though they had no ‘actual’ evidence that trump had taken any classified documents or broken any law.
How that story isn’t worthy of national coverage is beyond me: any media outlet that refused to report it cannot call themselves a newsroom. But…just ‘add it to the stack’.
Another interesting story that broke this week: the trump administration has now cut 271-thousand federal workers since he retook office in January. This was part of an effort to downsize government and add new efficiencies. It was part of the larger doge effort: the president and his team knew our federal government was super-bloated and wanted to take a federal workforce of 2.3 million back to about two million. Well, mission accomplished, basically, and i have no doubt that the streamlining of government under trump is going to continue…albeit- at a slower pace…over the next three years.
But- why the major news outlets wouldn’t report this is beyond me: you’d think they’d spin it as a terrible negative. They cheered as the democrats, activist groups, and govt labor unions filed lawsuit after lawsuit to stop the downsizing.
And so, you’d think they’d at least report the story- as a terrible development. It’s almost as if they know this will really be viewed yet another ‘win’ for president trump and his agenda…and so…they won’t report it. I’m going to steal a few other instances of ‘uncovered’ or wildly inaccurate stories from Joe Concha over at the Washington Examiner…because I like his list. I’m happy to say that listeners to this show did hear about all these things, except for the first one-but on Concha’s list of stories the so-called news media refused to report on this year….is….
The five most uncovered and inaccurate stories of 2025
And Concha is right about this. I hadn’t given it much thought…but normally. When gas prices are either falling dramatically or rising dramatically, nearly every news outlet is talking about it.
For some reason. Gee. Not this time.
When Trump re-took office- the average price of a gallon of gas around here was 3.35 or so…per gallon. Now it’s about 2.45 per gallon. And in eleven months, and through the course of all the changed. Have you seen any news stories about it? Not really.
We’ve talked about it routinely on this show- and in fact- were mostly wondering why there were such wild swings in the price day-to-day- and why there are such wide disparities in price now…just between communities. That is ‘two’ additional reasons why stories about gas prices would have been interesting: the average local or state reporter in Wisconsin should have simply asked those questions of themselves..at some point…and decided to do a story about it: hey, news director, how about a story explaining why the price of gas is suddenly moving by a dime in a single day?
Nope. No journalistic curiosity. And on the national scale: no journalistic integrity. In those newsrooms: we can’t report on how gas prices have dropped nearly a dollar since trump retook office. Come on. That makes him look good. It proves he’s bringing down prices. We can’t report honestly on that!
Another hugely under-covered story that I plan on making an entire segment on at some point: how virtually none of the 13-thousand homes destroyed by California wildfires have been built yet. Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom insisted they were going to suspend or speed up the permitting process to get the rebuilding going.
Folks -eleven months later- only 12 former homeowners in the la area have been given permits to rebuild.7-thousand-500 homes and businesses were destroyed in the pacific palisades part of la. Twelve rebuilding permits have been approved in eleven months.
Twelve. And the fact that the rabid leftists who control the la and California governments simply refuse to be reasonable and would rather be nasty, controlling zealots? Isn’t newsworthy?
No reason for so-called newsrooms to cover that story? Come on.
Another completely uncovered story throughout virtually all of 2025 has been- no kidding-the fact that President Trump and his team quickly gained complete control of the southern border and have stopped all illegal immigration. Not just the ‘mass migration’ that the Biden era was encouraging. Trump’s team and our great border agents have stopped virtually ‘all’ attempts to cross…and that’s making it super-easy for them to go out and catch the few crossers. It’s down to a few dozen or a few hundred a day who are swept up and immediately deported.
In the entire history of this country, my friends, we have never had a well-controlled southern border- much less- complete control and command of that border. We have it now. Thanks to trump and republicans. And the left-wing media members refuse to report on it.They. Will not give. Trump a win They will not. -as a group- acknowledge a trump win. What is that? Other than a group of left-wing propagandists?
Last December…the Biden/Mayorkas open borders scam allowed over 300-thousand illegals into this country. That was just the total for the last full month before Biden left office. Trump had that number down to nearly zero- very quickly…and it has stayed there for eleven months. How is that-not? - a fantastic win for the American people, for national security, and for the country’s institutions? Virtually no news coverage. It’s just insulting to anyone -like myself-who has ever called themselves a journalist.
And by the way-i am not a journalist now and haven’t been for probably 30 years or more. I don’t know if you notice, but I never call myself a journalist and I’ve criticized pundits and talk show hosts like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingram who-do- call themselves journalists. They aren’t. They are opinion-givers. They are purveyors and crafters of an opinion-based narrative they feel is correct, or true. Like myself.
They aren’t reporters or journalists-even if they-and we talkers here on WISN often break news stories. The term shouldn’t be used on us.
In fact, in a ludicrous turn of events this week, Rachel Maddow was given the Walter Cronkite award for excellence in journalism.
My god: if you want to destroy any credibility behind your award- label Rachel Maddow a journalist and give her the award.
Maddow-is not- a journalist. She is not credible. She never has been. Over the years, she has routinely been caught either making up information or spinning things as ‘proof of something’ when they’re not. We have Donald Trump’s income taxes now…and here’s what they show. Then she lies to her audience.
Rachel Maddow is not a journalist. I wouldn’t even call her a credible pundit or talk show host. I’d call her a fabulist and a propagandist for the left…and whoever oversees the ‘Walter Cronkite award’ should be taken out and shot…for this offense to journalism.
I heard Greg Gutfeld give his ‘take’ on Maddow receiving this award…and he much of what he said was dead on:
GREG GUTFELD: Because Maddow isn't paid to be right. She's paid to keep a dwindling audience from giving up altogether.
She sells her drug to a shrinking mass, but along the way, she got hooked on the fumes.
And yet here she is honored, celebrated, canonized by people as wrong as she is. She broke no stories; instead, she only broke her brain, and those of others who listened to her. She did the job she was supposed to do. She wasn't questioning power; she was insulating it.
On the left, accountability is nonexistent. What matters is loyalty. You don't get fired for being wrong, but you can be promoted for service to the cause, and that means distributing the marching orders to your minions, ignore everything else, including stories that actually cost lives.
That's the biggest story of all. Can you imagine being a journalist in America and stating in public, with no fear of being held accountable at all, that your goal is to stop one political party over the other? And you're worshipped by a corrupt, closed loop where mistakes are memory-holed, narratives outrank reality, and awards are handed out like condoms at a Hunter Biden pool party?
Maddow is honored because she was wrong, reliably providing an alternative reality to a circle jerk of self-congratulators that's getting smaller by the day. So maybe it's right to call it the "Walter Cronkite Award" because they're as dead as he is.
Gutfeld is right to say: on the left, accountability is non-existent.
But I’d go further: on the left…reality is whatever they want it to be ‘in the moment’. Truth and fact never come into play. And everything must be geared toward ‘service to the leftist cause’.
And so, Rachel Maddow is getting an award for lying and tricking people on a dying network that she has helped kill off over the years…and is being called a ‘political journalist’.
I was about to call her a ‘political hack’...but even that’s too mild a term for her. She’s politically poisonous. She’s distilled dishonesty. And she is-not- a journalist.
Nor are Gutfeld, or Hannity, or Jessie Waters, or Laura Ingram, by the way: not if the bulk of their work is giving opinions and pushing narratives. So, they misuse the term, too. They are media personalities..or… talk show hosts…or…opinion givers.
