(Miami, FL) - After it was revealed the alleged Brown University shooter entered the US via the diversity green card lottery, the president paused the program.
South Florida immigration attorney Richard Hujber says 55-thousand lottery visas awarded each year around the world with a cap of 35 hundred per select countries.
Hujber says the green card background check process was already slow-moving before this latest pause.
He says it was difficult to get the paperwork approved within the one-year deadline for the lottery program.
Unfortunately, for now luck has run out for current visa lottery winners.
Hujber says the fate of this latest immigration pause will ultimately be decided in federal court.
