(Des Moines, IA) -- Cards and letters of support are pouring in for the 113th Cavalry Regiment after two guard members from the unit were killed on Saturday. Hundreds of notes of encouragement from Iowans will soon be sent to Iowa National Guard members serving overseas.
The group Blue Star Mothers of Iowa says the number one thing active guard members need right now is a message from home.
“When we send care packages, the number one thing we hear back as their favorite is always the cards and letters from home. We know those things are most important to them — that’s their connection,” said April Conway with Blue Star Mothers of Iowa.
Cards can be dropped off at the Gold Star Military Museum at Camp Dodge or at the iHeartMedia building at 2141 Grand Avenue in Des Moines. You can also mail them to Blue Star Mothers; the address is available on our website at whoradio.com/news.
