The leader of a marijuana trafficking ring whose turf war with a rival gang led to the killing of a Rochester police officer has been sentenced in federal court to 21 years and 9 months in jail plus another 8 years of supervision after he gets out.
Brandon Washington pleaded guilty to a number of counts in August.
Prosecutors say he brought in gang members from out of town to kill rival pot dealers.
One of those hired killers, Kelvin Vickers, is serving life without parole for the July 2022 murder of Officer Tony Mazurkiewicz, as well as the killings of two alleged dealers.
Washington reportedly apologized to Mazurkeiwicz's widow in court.
