When fans saw Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, the members of the former powerhouse country duo Florida Georgia Line, laughing together at the CMA Awards a few weeks back, they took that as a sign the rift between the two was mending. Since going on hiatus in 2022, there has been an unspoken fracture in their relationship. Never explicitly acknowledged, nevertheless the signs were there: social media unfollows, a perceived diss track from Kelley, and the fact that a country duo at the peak of their popularity suddenly decided to pursue solo careers. With all that in mind, we have a promising update.
On a recent episode of the "Human School Podcast," Hubbard gave his thoughts on the cause of the friction. "There's actually nothing that me and BK aren't aligned on, except the fact that he thinks we can do both (FGL and a solo career), and I don't." He added that they are slowly taking steps to fix things. "I hadn't spoken to BK a lot in the last couple of years, but we're going on a hike next week, so the way I see it is, I have a desire for that friendship. I miss the guy I was partners with for 10 years. I miss my old roommate, my best man at my wedding, and if nothing else, we should have a relationship." Before fans get too excited, that doesn't mean new FGL music is on the way. "It doesn't have to be what it was, and it doesn't have to equal FGL doing anything, but we need to repair...and spend some time together face to face. And just walk and talk and hang, and go fishing or get a guitar out...I'm excited for that, because yeah, it feels like, at this point, enough time has gone by. What's happened has happened. But there hasn't been any real repair at all, so what I'm hungry for, is...let me get my friend back."
